Swimming Club Alphen (Alphense Zwem Club / AZC) is a great water polo and swimming club from Alphen aan den Rijn. The club has several departments: waterpolo, synchronised swimmingswimming, Masters en diving. Swimming Club Alphen is also very active in stimulating young people to sport with special groups for the very young (mini water polo and recreational and educational swimming).

This year the club exists already 90 years! AZC was founded on  17 March 1926.

On 11 February 2006 our former swimmin pool burned down. Before that our teams competed in “de Dillen” wher many an exciting game was played before a large public. With it’s 600 members Season Swimming Club Alphen is a mayor member in the swimming community. At the start of the season 2012-2013 AZC is back at their old location where on 7 May 2012 the newly build swimming pool “Aquarijn” has been openend. In this home the EJC water polo 2016 will be held.

AZC won 12 times the double title (the Dutch Championship and KNZB cup): 1977-1978, 1978-1979, 1980-1981, 1982-1983, 1983-1984, 1984-1985, 1986-1987, 1987-1988, 1988-1989, 1999-2000, 2000-2001 en 2002-2003

Swimming Club Alphen provided the National Dutch Team with professional players for many years. Multiple times they were in the finals for the European Championship, against among others the Italian Pro Recco and the Spanish Catalunya Barcelona.
